Just as it has for hundreds of women before you, the WBL Board Program offers a curated learning journey designed to build your confidence and expand your connections as you pursue your next board role. Through a deep dive into your personal value proposition and a comprehensive look at the current board landscape, you’ll leave the program with a clear understanding of which board opportunities are right for you — and how you can make a meaningful impact as a director.

Program Components

What's included in your one-year program experience:

  • 4 virtual training modules (12 sessions total) you can complete on your own schedule
  • 3 networking and Q&A sessions with peers and faculty mentors 
  • 3 small-group cohort sessions, led by faculty mentors, offering accountability, personalized guidance, and feedback — cohort match sessions will take place in October, March, and June
  • Resource guides, templates, and other materials to support every stage of your board search and service

Training Modules

Each module builds your board readiness step by step — from clarifying your personal value to making a lasting impact in the boardroom.

Module 1: Understanding Your Value as a Board Candidate

To excel as a board member, you must understand your strengths and how to convey them to the right people in your network. During this module, you’ll learn how to discover your unique value proposition, improve your personal branding, and strategically raise your profile.

Module 2: Exploring Board Types and Company Stages

This module will explain what to expect from boards at different company stages — from startup to public — and describe the unique opportunities serving on healthcare nonprofit and advisory boards bring to your career.

Module 3: Finding Board Opportunities and Acing the Interview

Once you have a strong understanding of your value and the board types you’re interested in targeting, this module will teach you how to find potential board roles, approach the interview process, and decide whether an opportunity is right for you or not. 

Module 4 : Becoming an Impactful and Influential Board Director

Finding a board role is only the beginning. Our final module will focus on becoming the director you’ve dreamed of: effective, influential, and respected by your peers. You’ll also learn about the expectations and benefits of serving on committees.
