WHAT TO EXPECT

Starting with a two-day in-person kickoff, the WBL Board Program will equip you with a suite of specialized tools and skills to help you secure your first board role, or find additional board roles.

Our yearlong program is the only board readiness program for women in healthcare. The connections, mentorship, advice, and tangible skills attendees receive are tailored specifically to leaders like you who are seeking to advance into board roles and make a lasting contribution.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

  • Advanced Knowledge of Today’s Board Landscape. Hear first-hand from insiders on how board seats are filled, how your talents align with trends, and what types of board seats are best suited to your skills.
  • Hands-on Experience. Work through real-world board scenarios to develop new leadership skills and build confidence in your board capabilities.
  • Your Unique Value Proposition. You’ll leave with a strong elevator pitch and data points that demonstrate your unique value and experience clearly, concisely, and effectively.
  • An Unparalleled Network. Attending WBL’s Board Program means you are part of healthcare’s most connected network of female leaders, ready to advocate and advance each other’s career aspirations.
  • Year-Round Support. During our two-day in-person kickoff, you will be placed in a cohort that will meet virtually at set points throughout the year. Led by an established faculty mentor, you will troubleshoot obstacles, gain peer feedback, and establish strong connections to support your board search.

WHEN TO ARRIVE

The program's kickoff will begin the morning of October 2nd in Nashville, TN and conclude the afternoon of October 3rd. We encourage you to arrive early and schedule meetups with fellow attendees to make the most of your trip!

After the in-person kickoff, attendees will participate virtually in two cohort calls, investor networking opportunities, and a final accountability call over the following year.

How do you set yourself apart and know what parts of your background to highlight? During this workshop, you’ll learn the language of board service and how to demonstrate your credibility as a candidate when authentic relationships count. Working Lunch: Get to Know Your Cohort

During this session, you’ll get to know your faculty leader and cohort, all of whom can serve as valuable contacts during your board search journey. Program faculty consists of highly accomplished WBL members with diverse board service experience who can provide valuable, on-the-ground insight into the board search process – whether it’s networking, the interview, or how different types of boards source candidates. They will provide advice, mentorship, and input to program participants over the course of the program.

Faculty will lead cohorts of 5-8 attendees to share ideas about your value proposition, what boards to consider, and how to best improve your strategies for finding a new board seat. You can rely on your cohort throughout the year for feedback and motivation as you refine your elevator pitch, write your board bio, and examine potential board opportunities. This is the first of three sessions where you will meet your faculty leader and cohort members – the other two will happen after the in-person portion of the program concludes.
