Pooja Goel is Managing Director overseeing healthcare services investments for Ascension Ventures. She is responsible for creating the portfolio investment strategy and seeking out new opportunities for partnership. Within healthcare services, her focus has been value-based care, senior offerings, and tech-enabled services for chronic condition management. Her operational background and experience lend great ability to create value with emphasis on new market expansion and scale.

Prior to joining AV, Pooja was a Partner at Virgo Investment Group responsible for the healthcare practice. She has spent over two decades in the healthcare industry, grappling firsthand with healthcare megatrends and their consequences. This includes the high cost of care for patients with multiple chronic conditions, the need to address social determinants of health, the shift in payment models from volume to value, the decentralization of care, and the increasing emphasis on the patient/family experience.

Pooja worked previously as National General Manager for new business at Landmark Health. Before that, she served as Vice President for New Market Integration at DaVita and led a team that identified opportunities for new centers in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. She was also responsible for many transformational initiatives while holding several key operational roles in kidney care, international health, and population health.

Pooja began her career in hospital operations at multiple academic medical centers, including Kaiser Permanente. She holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and molecular genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in health administration from the Loma Linda University School of Public Health.

Before joining DaVita, Ms. Hergenreter spent 13 years at Vail Resorts in leadership roles, including Chief of Staff to the CEO and Head of Talent Strategy. Earlier in her career, she provided HR consulting across industries, building a broad foundation in strategic people management. She has deep expertise in talent development, culture, and organizational growth.

Sophia G. Kim is a vetted senior healthcare executive with over two decades of experience in the healthcare and health insurance sectors specializing risk adjustment, strategic planning, business development, and program management, with a focus on government-subsidized programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act. Throughout her career, Sophia has consistently demonstrated her expertise in leading cross-functional teams to drive growth, optimize business processes, and deliver strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals. Most recently, as Chief Commercial Officer at Matrix Medical Network, Sophia oversaw a corporate turnaround, driving record-breaking revenues and achieving the highest membership count in the company’s history. Prior to this, she held leadership roles at Centauri Health Solutions and Change Healthcare, where she spearheaded growth initiatives, integrated acquisitions, and developed market strategies to expand business opportunities.

Martha Lawrence is a Health Care Executive with more than 25 years of experience in leadership and operations with national health systems including Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). Currently, Ms. Lawrence serves as CEO & Co-Founder of AccendoWave, a machine learning health care technology company that objectively measures and manages pain/discomfort. Previously, Ms. Lawrence served as President of Sequoia Healthcare Advisors, an advisory firm providing strategic innovation and investment
advisory guidance. Earlier Ms. Lawrence served in national account sales with Sandoz Corporation (now Novartis) and in sales and marketing roles with National Medical Enterprises (now Tenet Healthcare).

Martha Lawrence has a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Ms. Lawrence serves as an advisor to Alliance to Advance Comprehensive Integrative Pain Management and as a board member for UCLA Technology Development Group, AccendoWave and Sequoia Realty Advisors.

Kathleen A. Waters, Chief Legal and Public Policy Officer has been with DaVita since May 2016. She oversees all legal and regulatory functions for the enterprise as well as the state and federal policy functions. Prior to joining DaVita, Ms. Waters was SVP, General Counsel and Secretary of Health Net, Inc., a publicly traded managed care organization from 2015 until its merger into Centene in 2016. Prior to Health Net, Ms. Waters was a Partner at Morgan Lewis from 2003 to 2015, where she was the head of the Los Angeles office litigation practice group and co-chair of the firm’s healthcare group.
